The curriculum is based on general subjects such as Czech language, maths, social science, history, geography, etc. Students can study a lot of foreign languages. All the students study English as their first foreign language. Then at the age of 13, they can choose from German and French and study them as a second language. In upper classes students have an opportunity to enlarge their knowledge in various seminars (history, social science, maths, biology, physics, and chemistry) and in foreign language conversations.
Students can attend various clubs and they also take part in various competitions like chess tournaments, Sudoku tournaments, competitions in foreign languages or science competitions. Educational school trips to foreign countries are very popular. Students can go to England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. Students can also take part in international exchanges - the latest exchanges were that with Gimnazjum in Ozorków, Poland in 2010 and tha with Realschule fur Madchen in Neumarkt, Germany in 2012.
The students of Gymnázium Vysoké Mýto participate in a lot of international projects. Especially eTwinning projects are very popular and successful - some of them have been awarded Quality Labels, namely the project Christmas Traditions in Different Countries, the project Learning English together through ICT, the project EU Zone, the project Do you speak the same English? and the project Getting Closer which was also awarded 1st Czech National Price in March 2010.
