PROJECT DIARY

SEPTEMBER

NICE TO MEET YOU

In September we exchanged a set of materials (Power Point presentations, videos, Word documents, VOKI videos...) in which the students introduced and wrote about their hobbies. Each school then prepared a kind of activity for their partners such as matching the descriptions and photos or answering questions.

It was really nice to meet and find out more about the teens we were going to work on the project during the following 10 months. You can find out more HERE.

LOGO DRAFTS AND LOGO POLL

In September the Czech students also published this call: „Hi everybody! We think that it would be wonderful if our project had its own LOGO.  Upload your DRAFTS and then we can choose together the best one.“ Soon after nine drafts appeared and through the means of „survey monkey“ we all voted and chose the winning draft. It is really good – don´t you think so? You can find out more HERE.

OCTOBER

INTRODUCING OUR SCHOOL

We were eager to learn something about our partners´ schools and so we prepared a set of presentations. Besides the newsy presentations, the Czech students included an interactive quiz game in Power Point TAKE A RISK. The French students also made a crossword about the school subjects and a “Treasure Hunt”. The Italian students offered their partners two sets of questions on a WIKI page. This way everybody was active and busy and at the same time learned a lot about the other schools. You can find out more HERE.

NOVEMBER - DECEMBER

CHRISTMAS PRESENTATIONS AND PHOTOS

Both the young and the old people like Christmas. CHILDREN LOVE IT. However, there are always a lot of things to do before Christmas. Of course, there are some differences in how we celebrate Christmas and so each group of students made several presentations about interesting aspects and customs in their country.  We also took photos of the shop windows, of the Christmas market, of the glass Christmas tree decorations, of  some Christmas sweets and typical dishes – then we exhibited the photos in the twinspace photo-gallery. You can find out more HERE.

WHO IS IN THE XMAS VIDEO?

Five Czech students used a free “Christmas” JibJab template, made a short video and the task for our partners from France and Italy was to recognize the four girls. It wasn’tt easy at all – but in the end they managed. In fact, it wasn´t the only Christmas JibJab video – the teachers starred in one too. You can find out more HERE.

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES 1, 2 and 3

The Italian students sent us a nice Christmas present in the form of “Christmas Tree Quiz” – it made a wonderful program for one of the pre-Christmas lessons and we really enjoyed it. Then all the students answered a questionnaire to find out about Christmas preparations in their families - the answers were not only a good opportunity to practise FUTURE WITH “BE GOING TO” but also made a good collection of tips.

About a week before Christmas, there was another task – this time the students had to write what they had already done using PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE. You can find out more HERE.

HAND-MADE CHRISTMAS CARDS SENT BY SNAILMAIL

We all agreed that that we would like to send each other some hand-made Christmas wishes. We either made them at school during the art lesson or a special workshop or at home – we all did our best. A week or so later, we were really pleased to receive the packages full of wonderful cards from our foreign. In the twinspace you can see a lot of photographs, the Italian students even made a wonderful “documentary” film. You can find out more HERE.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

On the last day of school (before the Christmas holidays started) there was a Christmas concert in the assembly hall of Gymnázium Vysoké Mýto. Some students from KVARTA (involved in this project) took part in it. We made three short videos and sent them to our partners with a simple task. You can find out more HERE.

JANUARY

OUR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS

Jiří, one of the Czech students, made a presentation from which their partners could learn what the Czech students found under the Xmas tree.

LET ME INTRODUCE MY TOWN

In January, we had been working together for four months, we knew a lot about our partners and quite a lot about our partners´ schools, but not much about our partners´ towns. That is why we agreed we should introduce the places where we live and study. The students made a series of presentations about their cities; the French students attached a puzzle of a picture postcard of their place, the italian students made puzzles of three objects that appeared in their presentations and their partners had to write them back and identify the object; the Czech students´ presentation was available only in the form of nine puzzles and then their partners had to answer 15 questions of a Hot Potatoes QUIZ. A short film with some attractive photos from the town of Vysoké Mýto was a bonus. In the end the students of all three countries worked together on a twinspace WIKI page and compared the three towns. We also established a folder with the weather forecasts for the three towns and included a few winter snowy photos. You can find out more HERE.

FEBRUARY

HAPPY VALENTINE!

We created some Valetine cards and sent them to our partners – there were 75 of them in the twinspace photo-gallery. Everybody was also welcome to take part in the chat on Valentine´s Day (Tuesday 14/2/2012) at 7 p.m. It was great to communicate together online. You can find out more HERE.

LET ME INTRODUCE MY COUNTRY

Ourselves, our schools, our towns – so the next step was to introduce our countries. The students of each of the three schools made an interesting presentation in which we could learn not only the facts that are available e.g. in Wikipedia. You can find out more HERE.

MARCH

DAILY ROUTINES

We tried to compare our daily routines - are they similar or different? We worked in twenty international teams of three (in each team there was a French, Italian and Czech student), each team had to answer a set of questions on their own twinspace WIKI page. Then the students were asked to compare their routines, look for similarities and differences and write down a short summary. You can find out more HERE.

APRIL

EASTER CARDS

After the great experience with Christmas cards, we all painted or draw beautiful Easter cards and together with some sweets we sent them to each other. How happy we were when we received the cards from our friends then. You can find out more HERE.

WRITING A STORY TOGETHER

Since we knew quite a lot about our friends´ towns and countries, we decided to write together a story set there.

The French students started two stories, one set in Catona, the other in Vysoké Mýto. Then the Italian students started another story, this time set in Beausset. The openings and descriptions of the places were fantastic. How would the stories continue? How would they end? It was up to us. You can find out more HERE.

MAY

OUR TRIPS

Life is not only daily routines – sometimes we go on trips. Friends usually share experiences and so did we. The French students sent us an amazing diaporama flash slide show from their trip to Europe. The Czech students visited their partners from another eTwinning project in Neumarkt in Germany. And the Italian students went to Sicily and then uploaded 16 wonderful photographs. Of course sets of questions followed. We don´t have to say that all the questions were properly answered, revealing a lot of interesting details. You can find out more HERE.

JUNE

EUROPE DAY

We did a lot of work together and we had a lot to show. One of the great opportunities for the French students to present our achievements was THE EUROPE DAY that took place in May. On May 10th, a group of  15 students left Le Beauset for Toulon because they were invited to celebrate the Europe Day. You can find out more HERE.

PROJECT EVALUATION

With a lot of work done, it was also time to look back and evaluate our 10-month-long common work on the project. All the students took a survey made in SurveyMonkey, then we collected the answers and compared them. You can find out more HERE.

GOOD-BYE

Unfortunately, it was also time to say good-bye to each other. The Italian students made a perfect “good-bye” video which looked really professional. The Czech students also said their good-byes on front of a camcorder, and the French students made three amazing collages that summed up our common work. You can find out more HERE.

LAST GIFT FROM THE TEACHERS TO SAY GOOD-BYE
We think that our students deserve praise for their work and maybe a present too. That is why we created A QUIZ ABOUT OUR THREE COUNTRIES. You can find out more HERE.
